Medical Statistician, Cancer Research UK and UCL Cancer Trials CentreCancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre Medical Statistician (Grade 7 or 8) The Cancer Research UK & UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) is part of the Cancer Institute at University College London, and it co-ordinates a large number of clinical trials in cancer. The CTC is responsible for the design, conduct and analysis of multi-centre national and international clinical phase I/II and III trials in a variety of cancers, that evaluate new treatments or screening tests. We have a vacancy for a medical statistician, preferably with a background in clinical trials. The vacancy will provide a valuable opportunity to make an important contribution to cancer research, and to learn more about applied medical statistics. We are looking for a post-graduate (M.Sc. or above) in Medical Statistics or related subject with practical experience in clinical trials and/or epidemiological studies. Knowledge of statistical methods of design and analysis in medical research are essential. The post holder will work closely with clinical investigators and CTC staff to contribute to the design of new trials, and be involved in the development of interim reports and final analyses. The post holder will also be able to develop their own research interests and contribute to postgraduate teaching within the CTC and Cancer Institute. If appointed on the Grade 8 scale, the post holder will be expected to take a greater statistical lead on the projects, including developing applications for grant funding and trial protocols, and helping to write papers for publication with investigators. S/he is also expected to have some teaching experience. Salary: £31,778 - £38,441 (Grade 7) or £39,510 - £46,635 (Grade 8) per annum, including London allowance.
